Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque

Standard

We returned to Albuquerque on the Turquise Trail (Route 14) after a tip from Paul and Cristy. It is a scenic drive named after the precious stone. Along the road we stopped to look at local art work in the town of Madrid and funky scenery along the road.

Wind, hair and cream cheese sandwich don’t go well together. Wind, scarf on the head and cream cheese sandwich make a great combo.

The reasons why we returned to Albuquerque are:

1. The Balloon Fiesta

2. We are heading South

The Balloon Fiesta is a big, annual event atttracting people from all over the world. Hundreds of hot air ballons dot the sky over Albuquerque for a week. We went to the grounds on Saturday night for the evening glow show. It was brilliant.

On Sunday we woke up early and saw all the balloons on their morning journey, it was an exciting and unusual sight!

Hot air balloon parking, fail!
