Pura Vida

Standard

If you have ever been to Costa Rica, I am sure you have come across the saying Pura Vida!

Costa Ricans, expats and travelers alike use the term as a greeting, an expression of excitement and as a farewell. It’s literal meaning is pure life, but it’s common meaning is more that of full of live, real living, awesome or cool.

It’s such a positive, wonderful thing to say and I love it!

  1. It is a wonderful little custom, isn’t it. I’ve heard those two words used in conjunction so many times in the eight months I’ve lived here. It’s one of those phrases that is used in so many situations it defies definition beyond the literal. Glad your’e enjoying Costa !
