Day 6: The Great One

Standard

Where: Fosselv to Somewhere in between Breivikeidet and Fagernes
Distance: 99 km
Time on bike: 5 hr 45 min
Total distance: 505 km

In honour of Wayne Gretzky and with the record saving technique of Usain Bolt we rode 99km today!

We keep surprising ourselves with how good we feel on our bikes. Today was another day with great weather (we must have won the weather lottery)! With two ferries and 99 km in the box, we really made a move today!

As the sun was shining, we started craving ice cream. While waiting for the ferry that would take us from Olderdalen to Lyngseidet, we stopped by the shop to buy ourselves a couple of well deserved krone-is’. We quickly realized that it was cheaper to buy a six pack than two individual ones. When we got to the cashier, she informed us that they were selling two six packs for the price of one. So, what to do, what to buy? Two six packs! We had four (!!) each and gave the rest away to local kids.

Lyngsalpene is a glorious area known to backcountry skiers. It has 124 peaks over 1000 meters (and remember the mountains shoot right up from the fjords) and it is simply stunning. On a sunny day like this one, I am not sure if anywhere else on the planet could be prettier.
